The preschool children enrolled in the Family Literacy Academy. Learning Together, were given a chance to plant a garden and watch it grow. This project was sponsored by Mosaic and offered through the Florida Agriculture in the Classroom grants program.
“We are so grateful to the Florida AG in the Classroom program and Mosaic for this opportunity for our children,’ said Kathy Severson, the Family Literacy Academy director. “The children will be able to see the flowers and the vegetables grow and blossom and learn how to care for them.”
The Mosaic Company Foundation School Garden Mini-Grant program offers grants to teachers in DeSoto, Hardee , Hillsborough Manatee and Polk counties. For more information about the grant process, visit FlAgintheClassroom.com.
