Why are these teachers so excited? They were all awarded mini-grants for their classrooms and some received up to $1,000 for their projects!

Each year the Florida Legislature provides a dollar-to-dollar matching fund incentive.  To receive the funds the local education foundation must raise private contributions to match their appropriation. This year the DeSoto County Education Foundation (DCEF) will award $32,691 to teachers for innovative programs.

“We have all the ingredients for to a truly successful year,” said DCEF board members. “Talented and creative teachers, motivated students, involved parents and a supportive community that is striving for excellence.”
