MIDFLORIDA participates in “Surrounded By Stars” Employee of the Year event

A jubilant crowd of over 220 community members, school personnel and elected officials watched as Mr. Wil Brunty was honored as DeSoto County’s Teacher of the Year.  A 3rd grade teacher at West Elementary, Mr. Brunty was honored  by the guests in attendance, some of those being his current and former students.  ” When I see my students take ownership over their education…I know they have learned to enjoy learning, and that it will last the rest of their lives,” he stated in his application.

MIDFLORIDA awarded Mr. Brunty with a check for $5,000 for his determination, his leadership skills and for professionalism that defines respect from his students.

Vicki McCorquodale SREOY DeSoto

Mrs. Vicki McCorquodale was named DeSoto County’s School Related Employee of the Year for her dedication and proficiency in the area of financial records.  ” Shocked and honored to be chosen for my department and even more for the entire school district.  Very much a surprise”, stated Mrs. McCorquodale.  MIDFLORIDA presented her with a check for $2,500.  “We are so proud of our school employees,”  said Judy Kirkpatrick, local branch manager for MIDFLORIDA.  “They are very worthy of these honors.”

RTOY B Smith

Ms. Brittany Smith, Biology teacher at DHS was chosen as DeSoto County’s Rookie Teacher of the Year.  “I am so humbled and honored to represent the school district as the Rookie Teacher of they Year,” she stated.  Ms. Smith has taught less than 3 years in public education.
