Since 1997, the DeSoto County Education Foundation has worked to bridge the gap between classroom needs and community support. We believe that strong schools build strong communities—and that every student deserves the resources, inspiration, and encouragement to thrive. From innovative teacher grants to student scholarships and recognition programs, our mission is simple: empower education in DeSoto County at every level.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Shannon Fusco

Shannon Fusco brings decades of service in public education to her role as Executive Director of the DeSoto County Education Foundation. Having served in four school districts- including as a high school principal in DeSoto and North Port- gives her a deep understanding of the needs, challenges, and strengths within today’s schools. She offers a firsthand understanding of what students, educators, and schools need to thrive.

Shannon’s commitment to her community—and her passion for expanding meaningful learning opportunities and career pathways for students—has guided her work throughout her career. She has long championed the educators, ensuring they are equipped, supported and encouraged in helping students thrive.

Her leadership will continue to elevate the DeSoto County Education Foundation as it expands opportunities and scholarships, strengthens partnerships, and advances its mission of empowering education across the county.
