Here’s a list of all the DCEF Scholarships

- 5 from 1985 Annual Scholarship
- Please include two (2) letters of recommendation.
- Please attach an essay explaining the following “State any special, personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance.”
- 20th Century Literary Club Scholarship
- Please attach an essay explaining the following “What literary work have you read that made the most profound impact on your life and why?” – 500 words minimum
- “A Bushel and a Peck” The Dorothy DuBois (“Nanny”) Memorial Scholarship
- The student must have a 3.5 GPA and a minimum of 50 hours of community service.
- Please include two (2) letters of recommendation.
- Please attach an essay explaining one of the following:
- “Who in your life has been your biggest influence and why?” or
- “Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.”
- Ag-Fest Scholarship

- The student must have participated in either the 4-H, FFA, or the Jr. Cattlemen’s Association.
- Please attach an essay explaining the following “State any special, personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance.”

- Arcadia Moose Lodge 1327 Scholarship

- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- The student must be accepted into a college/university/technical school to apply.
- The student must enroll as a full-time post-secondary education student for the scholarship funds to be disbursed.

- Bodacious Memorial Scholarship
- A student that displays Christian attributes.
- A student that has faced a hardship (self or immediate family) such as tragic accident, sickness, death of a parent or sibling.
- The student must include a letter from their Pastor listing church involvement and any community services.
- The student must continue his/her education after high school gr
- Carlton D. McKettrick Memorial Scholarship
- The student must be majoring in a field of study that is agriculture-related.
- Please attach an essay answering the following question, “How has agriculture affected your life, and in what aspect will your college plans further your agriculture goals?”
- Carol McQuay Memorial Scholarship
- The student must be in either chorus or band.
- Carlton-Rudy Scholarship
- Students must be accepted into a college/university/technical school at the time of application
- Must watch the movie “Rudy” before applying
- Students must have a financial need
- Change for a Change Scholarship
- DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
- Please include three (2) letters of recommendation.
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- DeSoto County Teen Court
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- The student must have attended a minimum of ten (10) Teen Court dates.
- Please include two (2) letters of recommendation.
- Please attach a two (2) page essay, using Times New Roman 12 pt. font, discussing the following topic, “How has your experience in Teen Court affected your view of the judicial system?”
- DeSoto Math Scholarship
- Please attach an essay that explains the following: “How do I think I will use mathematics in my future?”
- Area of study: math-related (including but not limited to mathematics, math education, actuarial science, statistics, and accounting)
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Preference will be given to students attending non-profit colleges or universities.
- First Impressions Foundation
- Please include three (3) letters of recommendation.
- The student must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.
- The student must be accepted into a technical school to apply.
- Florida Chapter – Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) Scholarship
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Please attach an essay that explains the following: The Role of Mining in My Community
- Gopher Roofing Scholarship
- James Westberry Scholarship
- The student must provide a letter of recommendation from his or her pastor.
- Jill C. Edwards Nursing Scholarship
- The student must be pursuing a degree in nursing.
- The student must be accepted into a college/university/technical school to apply.
- The student must enroll as a full-time post-secondary education student for the scholarship funds to be disbursed.
- Students must complete an essay on the topic “Why I want to be a nurse.”
- Joshua Citrus Ag Scholarship
- The student must have been in 4-H, FFA, or other agriculture-related clubs. Please attach a brief essay explaining, “How agriculture has affected your life and what agriculture means to our community and state.”
- Keith Carlton Memorial Scholarship
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Must be a Cross Country team member.
- Please attach an essay that explains the following: Why do you run and how has it helped you?
- L & E Club
- The student must be accepted into a college/university/technical school to apply.
- The student must enroll as a full-time post-secondary education student for the scholarship funds to be disbursed.
- Students must have completed community service.
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- The student must complete a 200-500 word essay on the topic: “My Past, My Present, My Future.”
- Mann Family Memorial Scholarship
- Matt Condo College Rodeo Scholarship
- The student must complete a 200-500 word essay to answer: “Why are you deserving of this scholarship? Who was Matt Condo and what were his accomplishments as a cowboy?”
- The student must be of Christian faith
- The student does not have to attend a rodeo school.
- The student must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.
- Leadership DeSoto Scholarship
- Please include two (2) letters of recommendation.
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Peace River Valley Citrus Growers Association Scholarship
- Area of Study: any area of concentration with plans of a career in the citrus industry.
- Please include three (3) letters of recommendation.
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Please write and attach an essay, a minimum of 500 words, on the following topic, “What does Florida Citrus mean to you and how do you plan to contribute to the industry through your collegiate education?”
- Please include three (3) letters of recommendation.
- Robert L. Womack Memorial Scholarship
- The student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Please write an essay, 200 words or less, explaining the following, “How has hard work and determination influenced your life?” Also discuss in your essay, “How has your reliance on God shaped your life?”
- Please include your total number of community service hours on your general application.
- Summer “Bridge” Scholarship (for SFSC students)
- Suncoast Credit Union Scholars Scholarship
- Susie Brewer Memorial Scholarship
- The student must have been in 4-H all four years of high school.
- Victoris Blandin Memorial Scholarship
- Please attach a one-page essay, no more than 300 words, answering the following question, “If given the opportunity to help someone in need, what situation would you choose and how would you help?” (You may share a personal experience.)
- It is preferred for the essay to be typed, but it is not a requirement.
- William “G” Kayo Wells Memorial Scholarship
- Betty Dozier Bynes Memorial Scholarship
- Please attach a one page 500-word essay, answering the following question, “Who or What has inspired you to seek secondary education in business, accounting, computer science or education?

Here’s how…
The DeSoto County Education Foundation is pleased to be able to offer this service to donors for no fee. If you have an interest in establishing a scholarship, the foundation will be more than happy to help you with the process. The scholarship could be from:
- your business,
- local, social organization, or
- in honor of a family member or friend.
How Do I Start a Scholarship Fund?
DCEF is committed to making the process simple and transparent. There is no cost associated with this service. We believe that you will find our process to be very simple.
